Church-wide Adult Education Class offered during Lent: February 21-March 28 | 9:55 am - 10:45 am
Being Near to God: Exploring the Rhythms of the Spiritual Life
Led
by Nate Conrad and Keith Scherer: Room Worship Center
Being Near to God: Exploring the Rhythms of the Spiritual Life
But as for me, it is good to be near God (Psalm 73:28a NIV). With these words we begin our Lenten journey together for 2010. But what do they mean for us...practically. Surely it is God who comes to us, who initiates with us, who woos us to be near to Him, who in fact does it all. Is this not the heart of the message of the Cross?
And yet, and yet, there are things for us to do in response to God doing it all. God invites us to cooperate in our relationship with Him even as He enables that very cooperation.
The spiritual rhythms and practices that God has given us are the means by which we place ourselves before God, to be near to God, to encounter God, to be transformed by God. And as we experience in deeper ways our longing, hunger and desire for God, our need for these spiritual rhythms naturally grows. All of us have, and always will have, room to grow and develop and mature in our pursuit of God.
We have set aside this season of Lent to return to this familiar place in our lives that we might catch afresh a vision for our spiritual lives in Christ, a vision wherein we are captured anew by God and (re)discover that it really is good to be near God. We want to see Jesus!
Join others who are on a journey through the familiar, together praying that the Holy Spirit will meet us in unexpected ways
Adult Ed classes offered April 11-May 23 | 9:55 am - 10:45 am
Imperfect Parenting . . . What's Your Story?
Led by Amy Pasqualini, Jonathan Bozarth and
Don Parrish
This class is for imperfect parents. Is that you? Let's face it, all parents are amateurs--at their baby's birth, Mom and Dad don't get an instruction manual relating to this specific, unique child. And we're sinners. So we need all the help we can get. Thus, this class. Using video excerpts from Dr. Rob Rienow's Visionary Parenting series, we will launch into open and candid discussion about parenting struggles, how God is showing his strength through them, and how we can prepare our children for their future. Join us.
The Person of Jesus
Led by Christopher Ribaudo
The Person of Jesus study introduces a Christ so personal, so rich in love that participants are captivated heart-first. Whether you are looking for a study to invite friends to, or a study for your small group at church, this is a great tool. Its interactive style engages all participants in a non-threatening way and is saturated with in-depth content. Suitable for discipling or evangelism , this study will challenge and expand your understanding of the person of Jesus. The class will be working through the book, Love Walked Among Us, by Paul Miller.
The Work of Salvation
Led by Rich Weber
What is a "Christian"? This class will look at what Paul says about a Christian in Romans 8:28-30. In these verses, he identifies a Christian as one who is "foreknown" by God and "predestined" to something. He says a Christian is "called" and "justified." And he speaks of the Christian's great hope of glory--to be perfectly conformed to the likeness of Christ and to spend an eternity with Him in heaven. In seven weeks, we'll look at what these concepts mean for your faith in the Gospel that you already believe and for your assurance of an eternity with Christ.
Bible Study: Esther
Led by Norval Bard and team
The book of Esther is the only book in the Bible without an explicit reference to God, yet no other book surpasses it in revealing the love he has for his elect, how he protects his people, his omnipotence and his just nature. Join us as we explore the richness of this book and seek to identify and apply its timeless truths to our own context.
Offered throughout the year . . .
Discovery Class: an Introduction to
NPC
Led
by Bill Broyles, Walt Kuehne, Dallas & Cathi Maham, and Suzanne Riddle
April 11 for
five weeks, 9:55 am
Discovery Class is your personal invitation to begin a journey with God and fellow travelers at NPC. During this five week class we will explore who we are as a church and what we believe about the Bible, pursuing spiritual growth and more.
The Discovery Class is a prerequisite for membership at NPC. However, many people have found the Discovery Class to be a helpful introduction to what NPC teaches about the basics of the Christian life even if they choose not to continue the membership process at this time.

Class: Belonging at NPC
Led by
Chris Hodge
Friday, May 21 (6:30-9:00 pm with dinner) and Saturday, May 22 (8:30-11:30 am)
Membership class at our church is a two part course (Friday evening 6:30 - 9 pm and 8:30-11:30 am on Saturday morning) for those who have taken Discovery. Get to know our church and our purpose and passion for the Gospel. Have fun getting to know others while you learn what it means to be a member of NPC.
Why is membership important to us? By becoming
a member, a person is first and foremost acknowledging his or her
sinfulness before a Holy God and trusting Jesus Christ for eternal
salvation, which is the most important decision a person will make. Members also make
a commitment to the local church, both to serve in ministry and to be
ministered to by the
pastors,
elders and other caring
servants within the community. We encourage our members and friends to
join a
small group community
and become personally involved in ministry to strengthen their
relationship with Jesus Christ.

Subjects include: scripture, covenant theology, the sacraments, Church and Reformation history, biblical leadership and church government. Classes begin February 21 at 6 pm at the church, and will run consecutively for 14 weeks (though not meeting 3/28 or 4/4). Please RSVP in the church office so we can provide the materials necessary for the first class.
