Adult Education Class Schedule
Adult Ed classes offered during the academic year | 9:55 am - 10:45 am
New term: September 12-October 24
Counterfeit Gods
Idols come in a wide variety of
forms, not just stone, wood, or natural forces. And they’re not limited
to primitive cultures. Alexis de Tocqueville defined idolatry as taking
some “incomplete joy of this world” and building one’s entire life on
it. We Americans are experts at doing just that.
In this class, using Keller’s
book, Counterfeit Gods, we will discuss the empty promises of
America’s gods, and the only hope that matters.
Gospel-Centered Marriage
In this class we’ll be exploring
with others how the gospel impacts our relationship with our spouse.
While the time is designed for married couples (rookie or veteran), we
encourage engaged couples and singles are encouraged to join the class
discussion and study. Using scripture and secondary resources, we will
discover how the gospel changes our marriages. In a fun and life-giving
way, we’ll get to know each other as together we pursue healthy and
God-honoring marriages.
The Big Picture of the Bible
Get ready to look at the Bible
from 30,000 feet! Stepping back and grabbing a bird’s eye view of the
whole Story, we will discover and explore three overarching truths:
Grace (not rules) is the theme, Jesus (not us) is the point, and New
Creation (not ethereal harp playing) is the goal of the whole Bible.
Bible Study: Nehemiah
God has placed us exactly where
he wants us. Now what are we supposed to do? The book of Nehemiah
follows the actions of a godly person who seeks to be faithful to his
God and minister to his community despite many challenges. Come
and join us as we study Nehemiah this fall, searching for
principles that will encourage us in our faith and help us to greater
obedience and lead us to deeper joy in what God is doing in our life.
Young Adults
Are you a college student or
young career person? Each week others like you meet for study, prayer,
community and encouragement. Come join an engaging group of individuals
who can encourage and support you in your pursuit of God.

by Bill Broyles, Walt Kuehne, Dallas & Cathi Maham, and Suzanne Riddle
September 12
for
five
weeks, 9:55 am
Discovery Class is your personal invitation to begin a journey with God and fellow travelers at NPC. During this five week class we will explore who we are as a church and what we believe about the Bible, pursuing spiritual growth and more.
The Discovery Class is a prerequisite for membership at NPC. However, many people have found the Discovery Class to be a helpful introduction to what NPC teaches about the basics of the Christian life even if they choose not to continue the membership process at this time.

Class: Belonging at NPC
Led by
Chris Hodge
Friday, November 12 (6:30-9:00 pm with dinner) and Saturday, November 13 (8:30-11:30 am)
Membership class at our church is a two part course (Friday evening 6:30 - 9 pm and 8:30-11:30 am on Saturday morning) for those who have taken Discovery. Get to know our church and our purpose and passion for the Gospel. Have fun getting to know others while you learn what it means to be a member of NPC.
Why is membership important to us? By becoming
a member, a person is first and foremost acknowledging his or her
sinfulness before a Holy God and trusting Jesus Christ for eternal
salvation, which is the most important decision a person will make. Members also make
a commitment to the local church, both to serve in ministry and to be
ministered to by the
pastors,
elders and other caring
servants within the community. We encourage our members and friends to
join a
small group community
and become personally involved in ministry to strengthen their
relationship with Jesus Christ.
