Abortion Decision/Recovery Ministry
Perhaps you are considering an abortion, or have experienced the effects of one. Many men and women experience a variety of reactions to the experience of abortion. Initially, there may be relief. Later on, other emotions can surface: grief, shame, depression, guilt, anger, or regret. For some, the post abortion stress leads to nightmares, flashbacks, or struggles with intimacy. There are loving and concerned people here at NPC who would like to help you find healing and comfort that the truth of the gospel brings, with keen sensitivity toward confidentially.
If you are ready to move forward in your search for peace, understanding and forgiveness, or are in the midst of deciding about an abortion, here are some suggestions:
Considering an Abortion
- If you want to confidentially speak with a woman at NPC who
cares about your thoughts, situation or experiences please contacut
us, *Email: wecare. Your email will be routed
to Stephanie Wiese, a member of NPC who is a licensed professional
counselor.
*All email addresses are @npchurch.org. - Consider CareNet Services of DuPage. You can explore your options confidentially and also go for free pregnancy or limited ultrasound tests.
Abortion Recovery
- Consider a personal one-on-one conversation with a woman from NPC who has experienced abortion and the emotions that followed. She has gone through the CareNet Post Abortion Bible Study and was able to find peace, understanding and forgiveness. Under strict confidence, you'll have a partner to walk alongside you during your healing process, bringing words of comfort and forgiveness. To keep this strictly confidential, you can contact Suzanne Riddle either by phone or email. Suzanne serves on staff at NPC and will be glad to make the connection for you.
- Consider CareNet Services of DuPage. CareNet offers Post Abortion group Bible studies as well as one-on-one counseling. Groups are always forming, and all services are free and strictly confidential. You can contact Jean Mulder at 630-599-0043, or http://www.carenetdupage.com/carenet/programs.jsp.
- Naperville Presbyterian Church has related materials and resources that we can share with you. One suggested reference is a collection of writing from women in the Naperville area, "A Time to Speak: A healing Journal for Post-Abortive Women", by Yvonne Florczak-Seeman. Click here for the Christian Book site. If you attend Naperville Presbyterian Church, you can find special brochures in the building that further explain the services of CareNet. Pick them up downstairs on the literature racks near Room 046.
Still don't know where to start? You can call or email Jack
Kelly, licensed clinical professional counselor serving on the staff at
NPC. He will be glad to help you with your next step.
*Email: JackKelly.
*All email addresses are @npchurch.org.
Psalm 30: 10-12: Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
