WILDSIDE for 4th and 5th Grade

We desire to encourage kids in their Christian relationships not only with peers but with other adults in the covenant community here at Naperville Presbyterian Church. 4th/5th grade students have stand alone events throughout the year.

    Sunday During Service

Early Childhood (Currently, No Early Childhood Classes)

    Infant to  Pre-K

Early childhood is a precious time in life and we believe strongly that children can be encouraged and nurtured in their faith even in their earliest years.

Children engage in age appropriate Bible lessons which include songs, play, and supervised activities. All are designed to help them discover who God is, God's love for them, and how to love God with all their heart, soul, and might.

Please note that, where nurseries are concerned, children move from one room to another based on developmental factors as well as age.

FAITH APPS (Currently, No Faith Apps Classes)

    K-5th Grade

    1. We believe worship is an integral part of growing in Christ.

    2. FAITH APPS takes place during the sermon portion of each worship service.

    3. Children attend worship with their parents and are dismissed before the sermon to FAITH APPS. Together, K-5th grade engage in Bible teaching, and relevant activities that help them discover who God is, God's love for them, and how to love God with all their heart, soul, and might.

    4. As your child grows older, it is important to help them transition into the body of Christ by experiencing, learning, & asking questions about the church, faith, and God.

In order to better meet the needs of our children, we have structured our classrooms by age and classes are assigned by birthday. Children must be appropriate age by Sept 1st to attend a given class.

On the occasional 5th Sunday of the month, children ages 2 and up will join their families in worship. Childcare will be available for infants and walkers.

We encourage you to be in dialogue with your students. Lunch is always a great chance for talking about the service, asking what they thought about the sermon, and providing opportunity for them to ask you questions.

    Communion

If your child is ready to profess his or her faith in Christ,
and take part in Communion at NPC,
    Please Contact Us!

We believe that there is no "right" age for someone to declare their faith in Jesus and come to the Communion Table. We believe that a child coming to faith as a believer is about the heart, not age.
When your child is ready to declare their faith in Jesus, please contact the Children's Ministry office for more information.

    Safety & Security

Our Early Childhood Team is dedicated to discipling and nurturing the youngest members of our congregation.

Each classroom will be staffed with at least two adults who love Jesus and children. All adults and college volunteers have been background checked and approved by Naperville Presbyterian Church. The teachers and assistants have the best interests of the children at heart.

    Nursery - Pre K

When you arrive, a greeter will meet you to sign in your child. If you have an infant or toddler you will be asked for your cell phone number so you can be texted if your child needs you. Pagers are available if you do not have a cell phone or text package. If your child is in the nursery thru Pre K class you will be given an ID tag that matches the tag on your child. As a safety precaution, you must present this ID tag when you return to pick up your child. If you have a pager it should also be returned at this time. Children should be picked up promptly after the end of worship service.

    Dismissal Guidelines

Children (Infant through 5th Grade) will only be dismissed to a parent/guardian. Children will not be released to older siblings.

    Well Child Policy

Please help us make our classrooms free of illness. We are aware that the choice whether or not to bring your child is often difficult. Please do not bring your child with any of the following symptoms or illnesses:

    • A child is in the first 48 hours of the onset of a new illness

    • A runny nose (green or yellow)

    • Vomiting, Diarrhea or Fever in the last 24 hours

    • Has an unexplained rash or skin infection, shows signs of conjunctivitis (pink eye) or any other contagious infection.

    • On an antibiotic for less than 48 hours for a contagious infection

    • Seems listless and/or exhibits a change in behavior

Please contact the church office at 630-961-0579 if your child contracts and exposes classes to chicken pox or other similar illnesses so we can notify other parents and properly clean and disinfect the room.

    Food Allergies

We ask that NO peanut or nut products come into the building due to the frequency of allergies among children.

    Book of the Month

       Book of the Month

The Book of the Month is The Prisoners, The Earthquake, and the Midnight Song  by Bob Hartman.

""Listen! Do you hear it?' There's so much to heart in the exciting story of Paul and Silas's escape from prison - from tuneful songs to rumbling earthquakes and scraping swords. And listen! Do you know what else you can hear? The wonderful truth about Jesus!"
